It is exciting times here in Australia for Tennis fans with the arrival of all of the worlds top Tennis players. They will arrive on charter flights into both Melbourne and Adelaide over the next 24 hours or so and go straight into quarantine.

As a Tennis fan, it’s hard to contain all of the excitement knowing that Tennis is right on our doorstep here and we are about to immerse ourselves in the long awaited Aussie summer of Tennis. There is a little guilt in the excitement though as there are still 37,000 Australian’s who are still stuck overseas and cannot get back into Australia due to the tight caps on arrivals. Many people who need to travel for compassionate reasons are especially frustrated by the governments bending over to allow these special arrangements for Tennis players to fly into the country. This pandemic definitely has shown us some things and we will all learn from them on reflection. I won’t discuss this any further, as this is Tennis fans webpage, not a political one.

There have been plenty of posts, check ins at airports by the top Tennis players as they depart different ports in the world and fly to Australia. The qualifiers for the Australian Open have just finished in Abu Dhabi and Qatar and the players will be on the way here. For some such as Bernard Tomic, it must feel a bit tough having to leave Australia where there is no covid, then fly to to the middle east to compete for a spot in the main draw of the Australian Open, and then fly back to Australia and have to quarantine for 2 weeks. He definitely has kept the tabloids busy over the years, but he really has dug in deep the last week winning some tough matches and doing the talking on the court.

Australian Tennis fans would no doubt be excited for the potential of Deminaur going deep into the draw after his 4th ATP title win this week.

In a few days hopefully we can stop talking about the quarantine arrangements, etc and just be focusing on some brilliant Tennis!

Let the Aussie Summer of Tennis begin !!
