Introducing Gary from Sydney. Gary came late to tennis, only starting to play at 61 years of age (7 years ago). He now plays socially three times a week. He is also a keen Tennis fan, keeping up with all the Tennis news.  He and his wife have a beautiful 9-year-old daughter and they love to travel a couple of times a year (pandemics notwithstanding).

– Who is your favourite current ATP and WTA players?  Federer and Muguruza.

– Who would you say is the most talented player of all time?  Difficult to compare apples with apples, but people like Borg, Sampras, Graf, Navratilova and Becker have all brought something special to the game, even compared with today’s top players. Shame they couldn’t have a play-off!

– Favourite Grand Slam? French Open, only because it’s a great reason to go to Paris.

– Favourite Tennis Brand? Formerly Babolat, now Wilson’s Blade 98 v7.

– What is your favourite Tennis shot? Off-hand forehand. Ungettable, if you do it right!

– What do you think is Tennis best rivalry? We have been very lucky to have Nadal, Federer and Djokovic play each other. It’s been great tennis.

– Do you think woman and men should receive equal prize money in Grand Slams?  A qualified ‘yes’, provided that the women’s final is played over 5 sets.

– If you had a dinner party and could invite three past or present players who would you choose? Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Maria Sharapova (who is a great conversationalist, apparently).
